The Bakery Tech Team Mike, Dennis and Avsanna recently went a bit above and beyond in their jobs as bakery techs at Albertson’s. When Six Flags celebrated its 45th anniversary earlier this year, they called on Albertson’s for a special cake to help commemorate the occasion. Mike, Dennis and Avsanna created a replica theme park cake, complete with Superman, the roller coaster. It took the team nearly four days to complete the theme park confection, which was large enough to feed the 3,500 who attended the Six Flags celebration. The biggest challenge in making the cake? According to Dennis Welch, it was transporting the cake, intact, to its final destination. But, he added, “icing the roller coaster was a huge task, too.” A real Hot Wheels track was used and then iced to look like a roller coaster track.
